Next week on room #420!!!

Week of January 18, 2016 - School will be closed Monday January 18, 2016 for observance of Martin Luther King Jr. day.

ELA - This week we will continue our work on frogs and how they adapt to survive. We will be focusing our attention on writing an informative paragraph about these amazing creatures. We will learn how to draft, revise, and final a written paragraph. This is looking to be very exciting work, as our students will experience for themselves how authors write texts for us to learn from.

2nd Math - WOW! We are starting a new module this week. We will now be working with relationships. 10 more, 10 less, 100 more, 100 less to both addition and subtraction of 10 and 100. We will also learn to add and subtract multiples of 100, and gain more experience using the Associative Property to make a hundred in one addend.

3rd Math - Your 3rd graders will continue to work on area. They will begin to focus on multiplication and how this relates to figuring area. In addition, we will be using the Distributive Property as a strategy to find the total area by adding two products.

Science - As we have been studying stars for the past couple of weeks, we will now take a turn and look at GRAVITY...
This should be really exciting as the students have been asking some really well thought out questions during our star research, and a lot of them have been related to gravity. Particularly - Black Holes.

Social Studies - We will be learning about how other cultures continue to shape our world.

Geometry - Students will be working on Geometry drawers 1 and 2, basic geometrical shapes.
