-1/26+27:  Today Students started a three part group rotation:  1. Counterclaim Conclusion work in their journals, 2.  Achieve3000 article "Look...New Hands"  3.  Typing their Intro and Main Body Paragraph for "Auggie Grows Up".

QUARTER 3

-1/19+20:  Today Students took the Cornell Notes Quiz and completed "Auggie Grows Up" Body Paragraph Outline.
-1/14+15:  Today Students worked on Cornell Notes Pt. 2 and the "Auggie Grows Up" Body Paragraph Outline.
-1/12+13:  Today Students took notes on Essay Introduction Paragraphs and completed "Auggie Grows Up" Intro Handout.

-1/8+11:  Today Students will write a thesis and find evidence for the writing prompt "Auggie Grows Up."  They will also complete Journal Entry:  Growing Up.

-1/6+7:  Today Students completed the Quarter 2 Midterm and Achieve3000 Levelset.  Journals are due on 1/19+20.

-1/4-5:  Today Students learned the proper method of taking Cornell Notes.  They Completed Journal Entry:  Auggie's Precepts and Star Wars Episode IV Cornell Notes for a grade.  Journals are due on 1/19+20.

-12/11-13:  Today students applied their Jack Will Evidence Homework to a graphic organizer, in order to learn how to construct a body paragraph of an argumentative essay.

-12/9-10:  Today students will do the Prefix/Dictionary.com Quiz and learn to look up academic language on thesaurus.com.

-12/7-8:  Today students will finish the FSA Scrimmage.  They will be expected to complete Journal Entry #8:  More Prefixes, when they are done.  If they do not complete Entry #8, it will need to be completed at home.

-12/3-4:  Today Students will begin the FSA Scrimmage.  They will complete Journal Entry #8:  More Prefixes, when they are done.

-12/1-2:  Today students completed Journal Entry #7:  Prefixes, as we concentrate on Latin prefixes.
JOURNALS ARE DUE AND THE MIDTERM IS ON 12/15+16.

-11/23-24:  Today students completed Journal Entry:  Auggie's Face.  HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

-11/19-20:  Today students completed Journal Entry:  Venn Diagram, when applicable.  

-11/17+18:  Today students will complete Journal Entry:  Venn Diagram for Wonder by completing their thesis writing and providing support.  JOURNALS ARE DUE.

-11/13+16:  Today students started work on Journal Entry:  Venn Diagram for Wonder.  This is a two part assignment.  Students will compare and contrast Space Oddity and Rocket Man on day one.  One day two, they will work on their thesis writing and providing support from the text.

-11/10+12:  Today students completed Journal Entry #5:  Via Thesis, and discussed blending evidence to support a thesis.

-11/6+9:  Today students completed Journal Entry #3:  The Tour, and Journal Entry #4:  Wonder Figurative Language.

-11/4+5:  Today students completed two Figurative Language worksheets "Dawn's Awakening" in their Journal and a figurative language assignment to be handed in at the end of class.

-11/2+3:  Today we continued to work on our thesis writing and found evidence to support our thesis from the text.  We also completed Journal Entry #2:  Thesis + Evidence, as well as a Thesis Quiz.

-10/28+29:  Today we discussed the Argumentative Essay prompt "Should Auggie's parents send him to middle school, or should he be homeschooled?" and created a thesis that addressed the prompt.  Notes will be in the red binder.

-10/26+27:  Today we completed Journal Entry #1:  Little Stories, and A Tell Tale Heart Focus Questions.
