                                                     PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Hello Parents and Guardians, I would like to introduce myself, my name is Coach Parrish and I will be your child’s physical education teacher this year.
Our goal in Physical Education is for everyone to learn to make healthy choices and feel successful when participating in a variety of activities. This enables students to develop a positive attitude toward physical activity and to develop healthy habits, which will hopefully continue throughout their lives.
Students will be encouraged to have fun and enjoy PE. Students will be encouraged to have fun and enjoy PE. They will also be encouraged to participate to the best of their ability in a wide variety of activities. Elementary level, certain skills are taught so that students will be able to pursue competitive sports as well as lifetime sports.
Basic introductory skills for the following activities will be taught; 1.) Circle, line, throw, and relay games, 2.) fitness activities including the state mandated FITNESSGRAM fitness test in third, fourth, and fifth grades, 3.) jumprope, golf ,tennis; 4.) organized  games and activities, volleyball, soccer, basketball, ping pong, etc. 5.) cooperative games, and 6.) recreational activities, bowling, four square, hopscotch, tetherball, horseshoe, etc.
Your child will have PE two times every ten day count. Tennis shoes are recommended. Appropriate shoes must have a rubber sole and cover the entire foot. If sandals, open back shoes, high heels shoes or leather soled boots are worn to school, the student must bring appropriate shoes for PE. If your child does not have appropriate shoes, he/she will walk during class or another appropriate exercise will be assigned.
……..        If your child has any physical disabilities, please let us know. Problems such as chronic asthma, allergies, heart problems, diabetes, etc., need to be documented and kept in our files in the PE office. Prior knowledge will help us to monitor your child closely and correct or alleviate any problems that arise. The students’ safety is important to us as they go through their daily PE routine.
Please refer back to me for information about rules, discipline, and our grading system. Look forward to a Fabulous and Fun year. My conference period is from 1:00 till 2:00pm. Please feel free to contact me during this time when the need arises.

                                                                     SAFETY PATROLS
Dear Parents/ Guardians of our newly selected John E. Ford Safety Patrol Team Members
Congratulations; Thank-You for allowing and encouraging your student to serve as a safety patrol. We know this is a big commitment for you as it is for them. Your student has been chosen to serve because they have proven themselves to be responsible, thoughtful, and a motivated role model. We are very excited to work with your student. We’ve got great leaders and looking forward to a great year together.
One thing you may notice is that we are very firm about appropriate dress. Proper attire is required, such as ( belt should be worn @ all times), Digital shirts are worn during duty only Mon through Thurs, and Khaki( pants, skirts, capris, shorts below fingertips), and white polo shirts on Friday or special occasions.
Students will study, review, and sign the patrol responsibility- behavior-attendance contract during the training. We have very high standards for conduct, so be sure to look this over carefully with your patrol as you sign it.
Our first meeting will be held on Friday 9-25-15 @5-6pm.We will talk about fundraisers, Washington D.C. trip, any questions you may have .We have found that email is an excellent way to communicate about patrols, so email us and I will make sure to get back to you, and please give me your address or call me. Thank you again for your commitment to serve on the John E. Ford Safety Patrol.
